मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
एवं तु स्तुवतस्तस्य तेजसो राशिरुच्छ्रितः ।
प्रादुर्बभूव सहसा गगनव्याप्तिकारकः ॥१॥

Markandeya said: As he was praising in this manner, a mass of light (tejas) arose. It suddenly manifested, pervading the sky.
