मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-70, verse-22

वयं बुभुक्षितास्तस्य मन्त्रोच्चाटनकर्मणा ।
क्व यामः सर्वयज्ञेषु स ऋत्विग् भवति द्विजः ॥२२॥
22. vayaṃ bubhukṣitāstasya mantroccāṭanakarmaṇā .
kva yāmaḥ sarvayajñeṣu sa ṛtvig bhavati dvijaḥ.
22. vayam bubhukṣitāḥ tasya mantrocchāṭanakarmaṇā
kva yāmaḥ sarvayajñeṣu saḥ ṛtvij bhavati dvijaḥ
22. We are hungry because of his act of banishment through sacred incantations (mantra). Where shall we go? That Brahmin (dvija) becomes the officiating priest (ṛtvij) in all rituals (yajña).
