मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-126, verse-37

भुजङ्गहेतुकं भूप चारान्धो नापि वेत्सि तत् ।
बहुनात्र किमुक्तेन दुष्टे दण्डो निपात्यताम् ॥३७॥
37. bhujaṅgahetukaṃ bhūpa cārāndho nāpi vetsi tat .
bahunātra kimuktena duṣṭe daṇḍo nipātyatām.
37. bhujaṅgahetukam bhūpa cārāndhaḥ na api vetsi tat
bahunā atra kim uktena duṣṭe daṇḍaḥ nipātyatām
37. O king, even though you are blind (to the truth) due to your spies, you do not even know that this (calamity) was caused by a serpent. What more is there to say here? Let punishment be inflicted upon the wicked!
