मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-126, verse-21

पितामहस्ते स्वर्यातः सम्यक्संपाल्य मेदिनीम् ।
पिता तव तथा शक्तो हित्वा ग्रामं वनं गतः ( तपश्चरणशक्ताऽहमिह चौर्वाश्रमे स्थिता ) ॥२१॥
21. pitāmahaste svaryātaḥ samyaksaṃpālya medinīm .
pitā tava tathā śakto hitvā grāmaṃ vanaṃ gataḥ ( tapaścaraṇaśaktā'hamiha caurvāśrame sthitā ).
21. pitāmahaḥ te svar-yātaḥ samyak saṃpālya medinīm
pitā tava tathā śaktaḥ hitvā grāmam vanam gataḥ
21. Your grandfather passed away after properly protecting the earth. Your father, though capable, similarly abandoned his village and went to the forest.
