महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-7, verse-5

ततो बलानि सर्वाणि सेनाशिष्टानि भारत ।
संनद्धान्येव ददृशुर्मृत्युं कृत्वा निवर्तनम् ॥५॥
5. tato balāni sarvāṇi senāśiṣṭāni bhārata ,
saṁnaddhānyeva dadṛśurmṛtyuṁ kṛtvā nivartanam.

5. O descendant of Bharata, then all the remaining divisions of the army, fully prepared, looked upon death as their ultimate retreat (meaning they resolved to fight to the death).
