महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-67, verse-8

तं समीक्ष्य ततः कर्णो ब्रह्मास्त्रेण धनंजयम् ।
अभ्यवर्षत्पुनर्यत्नमकरोद्रथसर्जने ।
तदस्त्रमस्त्रेणावार्य प्रजहारास्य पाण्डवः ॥८॥
8. taṁ samīkṣya tataḥ karṇo brahmāstreṇa dhanaṁjayam ,
abhyavarṣatpunaryatnamakarodrathasarjane ,
tadastramastreṇāvārya prajahārāsya pāṇḍavaḥ.

8. Upon seeing Arjuna (dhanañjayam), Karṇa then assailed him with the Brahmāstra. He then made another attempt at creating a chariot. However, the Pāṇḍava, repelling that weapon with his own, struck Karṇa.
