महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-67, verse-27

देहात्तु कर्णस्य निपातितस्य तेजो दीप्तं खं विगाह्याचिरेण ।
तदद्भुतं सर्वमनुष्ययोधाः पश्यन्ति राजन्निहते स्म कर्णे ॥२७॥
27. dehāttu karṇasya nipātitasya; tejo dīptaṁ khaṁ vigāhyācireṇa ,
tadadbhutaṁ sarvamanuṣyayodhāḥ; paśyanti rājannihate sma karṇe.

tejaḥ dīptam kham vigāhya acireṇa
tat adbhutam sarvamanuṣyayodhāḥ

27. O King, from the fallen body of Karna, a blazing effulgence (tejas) swiftly ascended, penetrating the sky. All the human warriors witnessed that astonishing sight when Karna was slain.
