महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-60, verse-33

तामथ श्लक्ष्णया वाचा लुब्धको मृदुपूर्वया ।
सान्त्वयामास कामार्तस्तदबुध्यत भामिनी ॥३३॥
33. tāmatha ślakṣṇayā vācā lubdhako mṛdupūrvayā ,
sāntvayāmāsa kāmārtastadabudhyata bhāminī.
33. tām atha ślakṣṇayā vācā lubdhakaḥ mṛdupūrvayā
sāntvayāmāsa kāmārtaḥ tat abudhyata bhāminī
33. Then the hunter, afflicted by desire (kāma), consoled her with soft and gentle words. The lady (Damayantī) understood his intentions.
