महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-277, verse-15

तुष्टासि यदि मे देवि काममेतं वृणोम्यहम् ।
संतानं हि परो धर्म इत्याहुर्मां द्विजातयः ॥१५॥
15. tuṣṭāsi yadi me devi kāmametaṁ vṛṇomyaham ,
saṁtānaṁ hi paro dharma ityāhurmāṁ dvijātayaḥ.
15. tuṣṭā asi yadi me devi kāmam etam vṛṇomi aham |
santānam hi paraḥ dharmaḥ iti āhuḥ mām dvijātayaḥ
15. If you are pleased with me, O goddess, I choose this boon. For, 'progeny is the highest natural law (dharma)', thus have the twice-born (dvijātayaḥ) told me.
