महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-277, verse-24

सावित्र्या प्रीतया दत्ता सावित्र्या हुतया ह्यपि ।
सावित्रीत्येव नामास्याश्चक्रुर्विप्रास्तथा पिता ॥२४॥
24. sāvitryā prītayā dattā sāvitryā hutayā hyapi ,
sāvitrītyeva nāmāsyāścakrurviprāstathā pitā.
24. sāvitryā prītayā dattā sāvitryā hutayā hi api
sāvitrī iti eva nāma asyāḥ cakruḥ viprāḥ tathā pitā
24. Since she was given by the pleased Sāvitrī (Goddess) and also by the invoked Sāvitrī (Goddess), the brahmins and her father named her Sāvitrī.
