महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-268, verse-32

ततस्तु राजवचनाद्राक्षसाः कामरूपिणः ।
निर्ययुर्विकृताकाराः सहस्रशतसंघशः ॥३२॥
32. tatastu rājavacanādrākṣasāḥ kāmarūpiṇaḥ ,
niryayurvikṛtākārāḥ sahasraśatasaṁghaśaḥ.
32. tataḥ tu rājavacanāt rākṣasāḥ kāmarūpiṇaḥ
niryayuḥ vikṛtākārāḥ sahasraśatasaṅghaśaḥ
32. Then, at the king's command, the rākṣasas, who could assume any form (kāmarūpiṇaḥ), emerged with distorted appearances (vikṛtākārāḥ) in groups numbering hundreds of thousands.
