महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-181, verse-18

अशुभैः कर्मभिः पापास्तिर्यङ्नरकगामिनः ।
संसारेषु विचित्रेषु पच्यमानाः पुनः पुनः ॥१८॥
18. aśubhaiḥ karmabhiḥ pāpāstiryaṅnarakagāminaḥ ,
saṁsāreṣu vicitreṣu pacyamānāḥ punaḥ punaḥ.

18. Those sinful individuals, by their inauspicious actions (karma), become destined for subhuman existences and hell, being tormented again and again in various cycles of transmigration (saṃsāra).
