महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-90, verse-17

इत्युक्तः स तु तेजस्वी व्यासेनामिततेजसा ।
दीक्षां विवेश धर्मात्मा वाजिमेधाप्तये तदा ।
नराधिपः प्रायजत वाजिमेधं महाक्रतुम् ॥१७॥
17. ityuktaḥ sa tu tejasvī vyāsenāmitatejasā ,
dīkṣāṁ viveśa dharmātmā vājimedhāptaye tadā ,
narādhipaḥ prāyajata vājimedhaṁ mahākratum.

17. Thus spoken to by Vyāsa, who possessed immeasurable radiance, that illustrious king, whose soul was intent on natural law (dharmātman), then entered the initiatory rite (dīkṣā) for the accomplishment of the horse-Vedic ritual (vājimedha). The ruler of men (narādhipa) then performed that great Vedic ritual (vājimedha mahākrātu).
