महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-90, verse-14

एवमेव महाराज दक्षिणां त्रिगुणां कुरु ।
त्रित्वं व्रजतु ते राजन्ब्राह्मणा ह्यत्र कारणम् ॥१४॥

14. Therefore, O great king (mahārāja), make the ritual fee (dakṣiṇā) threefold. Let this threefold nature come to you, O king, for the brahmins are indeed the reason here.
