महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-80, verse-45

इत्युक्तः स महातेजाः शुकः पित्रा महात्मना ।
पूजयामास गा नित्यं तस्मात्त्वमपि पूजय ॥४५॥
45. ityuktaḥ sa mahātejāḥ śukaḥ pitrā mahātmanā ,
pūjayāmāsa gā nityaṁ tasmāttvamapi pūjaya.
45. iti uktaḥ saḥ mahātejāḥ śukaḥ pitrā mahātmanā
pūjayāmāsa gāḥ nityam tasmāt tvam api pūjaya
45. iti mahātmanā pitrā uktaḥ saḥ mahātejāḥ śukaḥ
gāḥ nityam pūjayāmāsa tasmāt tvam api pūjaya
45. Thus addressed by his great-souled (mahātmanā) father, the highly radiant Śuka always worshipped the cows (gāḥ). Therefore, you too should worship them.
