महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-80, verse-37

निर्हृतैश्च यवैर्गोभिर्मासं प्रसृतयावकः ।
ब्रह्महत्यासमं पापं सर्वमेतेन शुध्यति ॥३७॥
37. nirhṛtaiśca yavairgobhirmāsaṁ prasṛtayāvakaḥ ,
brahmahatyāsamaṁ pāpaṁ sarvametena śudhyati.

37. For a month, one who subsists on a handful of barley meal (yāvaka), prepared with purified barley and (products from) cows, purifies all sins, even those equivalent to the killing of a `brāhmaṇa`.
