महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-80, verse-33

न द्रुह्येन्मनसा चापि गोषु ता हि सुखप्रदाः ।
अर्चयेत सदा चैव नमस्कारैश्च पूजयेत् ।
दान्तः प्रीतमना नित्यं गवां व्युष्टिं तथाश्नुते ॥३३॥

33. One should not harm cows, even with the mind, for they indeed are givers of happiness. One should always honor them and worship them with salutations. A self-controlled (dāntaḥ) person with a contented mind (prītamanāḥ) thus constantly attains the prosperity (vyuṣṭi) of cows.
