महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-88, verse-14

फलं कर्म च संप्रेक्ष्य ततः सर्वं प्रकल्पयेत् ।

14. Having carefully considered both the result and the action (karma), one should then arrange everything. No one should undertake any action (karma) or seek a result without proper reason or motive.
