प्रब्रूहि राजशार्दूल कर्ता ह्यस्मि तथा नृप ।
अत्यन्तं सख्यमिच्छामीत्याह तं स सुयोधनः ॥३८॥

38. asya rājyapradānasya sadṛśaṁ kiṁ dadāni te ,
prabrūhi rājaśārdūla kartā hyasmi tathā nṛpa ,
atyantaṁ sakhyamicchāmītyāha taṁ sa suyodhanaḥ.

Karṇa said: 'What equivalent can I give you for this bestowal of a kingdom? Tell me, O tiger among kings (rājaśārdūla), for I am certainly ready to act accordingly, O king!' To him, that Suyodhana (Duryodhana) then said: 'I desire your ultimate friendship.'
