तेनानुभूतिर्भवति नान्यथा काष्ठयोरिव ॥ १० ॥

By virtue of its nature as consciousness (cinmayatvāt), the cognizable object (cetyam) merges into consciousness (citau), just as water (jalam) dissolves into other waters (apsu). For this reason, (true) experience (anubhūtiḥ) arises; it does not occur otherwise, like with two pieces of wood (kāṣṭhayoḥ).
