संविदेव नृणां जीवः स यथा दृढभावनः ।
तथा सुखी वा दुःखी वा भवेदित्येष निश्चयः ॥ २० ॥

Consciousness (saṃvit) itself is the animating principle (jīva) of human beings. Just as one's conviction (bhāvanā) is firm, so that person becomes happy or unhappy. This is the firm conclusion.
