ज्ञत्वकर्तृत्वभोक्तृत्वसाक्षित्वाद्यभिपातिनी ।
या संविज्जीव इत्युक्ता तद्धि पुर्यष्टकं विदुः ॥ १८ ॥

That consciousness (saṃvit) which is associated with the states of being a knower, an agent, an enjoyer, a witness, and so on, is declared to be the individual soul (jīva). Indeed, they consider this (jīva) to be the subtle body (puryaṣṭaka).
