श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
पुरा मे ब्रह्मणा प्रोक्तं सर्वं तत्कथयानघ ।
यदिदं तत्प्रवक्ष्यामि त्वयि पृच्छति राघव ॥ १ ॥

Sri Vasistha said: "O sinless one, tell [me] all that was spoken to me by Brahma in the past. O Raghava, I shall now relate to you this very thing, since you are asking."
