योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-2, chapter-9, verse-8

पुरुषार्थस्य सिद्धस्य शुभाशुभफलोदये ।
इदमित्थं स्थितमिति योक्तिस्तद्दैवमुच्यते ॥ ८ ॥
puruṣārthasya siddhasya śubhāśubhaphalodaye ,
idamitthaṃ sthitamiti yoktistaddaivamucyate 8
8. puruṣārthasya siddhasya śubhāśubhaphallodaye idam
ittham sthitam iti yaḥ uktiḥ tat daivam ucyate
8. puruṣārthasya siddhasya śubhāśubhaphallodaye idam

8. When, regarding the successful outcome of human endeavor (puruṣārtha), at the emergence of results, whether good or bad, the statement is made, 'This is fixed in this manner,' that is called fate (daiva).
