अथ नेष्यसि चेद्ब्रह्मंस्तद्धतोऽस्म्यहमेव ते ।
अन्यथा तु न पश्यामि शाश्वतं जयमात्मनः ॥ ३७ ॥

If, O Brahmin, you do not wish (to grant my appeal), then I myself am certainly as good as killed by you. However, otherwise (if I refuse your demand), I do not foresee a lasting victory for myself (ātman).
