योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-1, chapter-8, verse-37

अथ नेष्यसि चेद्ब्रह्मंस्तद्धतोऽस्म्यहमेव ते ।
अन्यथा तु न पश्यामि शाश्वतं जयमात्मनः ॥ ३७ ॥
atha neṣyasi cedbrahmaṃstaddhato'smyahameva te ,
anyathā tu na paśyāmi śāśvataṃ jayamātmanaḥ 37
37. atha na iṣyasi cet brahman tat hataḥ asmi aham eva
te anyathā tu na paśyāmi śāśvatam jayam ātmanaḥ
37. If, O Brahmin, you do not wish (to grant my appeal), then I myself am certainly as good as killed by you. However, otherwise (if I refuse your demand), I do not foresee a lasting victory for myself (ātman).
