विरथो वसुधां तिष्ठन्मकराक्षो निशाचरः ।
अतिष्ठद्वसुधां रक्षः शूलं जग्राह पाणिना ।
त्रासनं सर्वभूतानां युगान्ताग्निसमप्रभम् ॥२९॥

29. Chariotless, Makarākṣa, the night-prowling demon, stood on the earth. The demon then grasped a trident with his hand, which was terrifying to all beings and shone with the brilliance of the fire at the end of a cosmic age (yuga).
