युक्तात्मनस्तमोमात्रा उद्रिक्ताभूत् प्रजापतेः ।
सिसृक्षोर्जघनात् पूर्वमसुरा जज्ञिरे ततः ॥५॥

From Prajāpati, whose self (ātman) was thus engaged, the element of darkness (tamas) became prominent. As he desired to create, the Asuras were then born first from his loins.
