मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-133, verse-34

एवमुक्त्वा च स दमो हदयं च व्यदारयत् ।
पातुकामश्च स सुरैः क्षतजेन निवारितः ॥३४॥
34. evamuktvā ca sa damo hadayaṃ ca vyadārayat .
pātukāmaśca sa suraiḥ kṣatajena nivāritaḥ.
34. evam uktvā ca saḥ damaḥ hṛdayam ca vyadārayat
pātukāmaḥ ca saḥ suraiḥ kṣatajena nivāritaḥ
34. Having spoken thus, Dama tore open the heart. And he, desirous of drinking the blood, was prevented by the gods from doing so.
