श्रुत्वा दमस्तु तत्सर्वं दूतप्रोक्तं ययौ त्वरन् ।
स्मृत्वा प्रतिज्ञां पूर्वोक्तां निःश्वसमुरगो यथा ॥१७॥

Indeed, Dama, having heard everything spoken by the messenger, hurried away, remembering his previous vow and sighing like a snake.
