अपुत्रोऽहं महाराज वृथा जन्मप्रयोजनम् ।
विचारयन्न पश्यामि प्राणानामिह धारणम् ॥१०॥

10. mṛga uvāca .
aputro'haṃ mahārāja vṛthā janmaprayojanam .
vicārayanna paśyāmi prāṇānāmiha dhāraṇam.

mṛgaḥ uvāca | aputraḥ aham mahārāja vṛthā janmaprayojanam

The deer said, "O great king, I am without a son. The purpose of my birth is futile. Considering this, I do not see how I should maintain my life here."
