महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-8, verse-35

नाहं मृष्ये हतं द्रोणं सिंहद्विरदविक्रमम् ।
कथं संजय दुर्धर्षमनाधृष्ययशोबलम् ॥३५॥
35. nāhaṁ mṛṣye hataṁ droṇaṁ siṁhadviradavikramam ,
kathaṁ saṁjaya durdharṣamanādhṛṣyayaśobalam.
35. na aham mṛṣye hatam droṇam siṃhadviradavikramam
katham saṃjaya durdharṣam anādhṛṣyayaśobalam
35. saṃjaya aham hatam droṇam na mṛṣye katham
siṃhadviradavikramam durdharṣam anādhṛṣyayaśobalam
35. O Sanjaya, I cannot tolerate Drona, whose prowess is like that of a lion and a fierce elephant, being killed. How could he, who is unconquerable and whose fame and strength are unassailable, possibly be slain?
