महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-105, verse-7

यथाप्रतिज्ञं कौरव्य स चापि समितिंजयः ।
पार्थानामकरोद्भीष्मः सततं समितिक्षयम् ॥७॥
7. yathāpratijñaṁ kauravya sa cāpi samitiṁjayaḥ ,
pārthānāmakarodbhīṣmaḥ satataṁ samitikṣayam.
7. yathā-pratijñam kauravya saḥ ca api samiti-ñ-jayaḥ
pārthānām akarot bhīṣmaḥ satatam samiti-kṣayam
7. kauravya ca saḥ api yathā-pratijñam samiti-ñ-jayaḥ
bhīṣmaḥ satatam pārthānām samiti-kṣayam akarot
7. And that Bhishma (bhīṣma), O descendant of Kuru (kauravya), true to his vow (yathāpratijñam) and victorious in battle (samitiñjaya), constantly inflicted destruction (samitikṣayam) upon the Pārthas (Pāṇḍavas).
