महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-105, verse-10

न हि भीष्मं महेष्वासं पाण्डवाः पाण्डुपूर्वज ।
अशक्नुवन्रणे जेतुं पाशहस्तमिवान्तकम् ॥१०॥
10. na hi bhīṣmaṁ maheṣvāsaṁ pāṇḍavāḥ pāṇḍupūrvaja ,
aśaknuvanraṇe jetuṁ pāśahastamivāntakam.

aśaknuvan raṇe jetum pāśahastam iva antakam
10. pāṇḍupūrvaja pāṇḍavāḥ raṇe pāśahastam antakam

10. O elder of Pāṇḍu (Dhṛtarāṣṭra), the Pāṇḍavas were certainly not able to conquer in battle Bhishma, that great archer, who was like Antaka (Yama) holding a noose in his hand.
