महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-105, verse-25

हत्वा दश सहस्राणि क्षत्रियाणां महात्मनाम् ।
संग्रामाद्व्यपयातव्यमेतत्कर्म ममाह्निकम् ।
इति तत्कृतवांश्चाहं यथोक्तं भरतर्षभ ॥२५॥
25. hatvā daśa sahasrāṇi kṣatriyāṇāṁ mahātmanām ,
saṁgrāmādvyapayātavyametatkarma mamāhnikam ,
iti tatkṛtavāṁścāhaṁ yathoktaṁ bharatarṣabha.

mahātmanām saṅgrāmāt vyapayātavyam etat
karma mama āhnikam iti tat kṛtavān

25. Having slain ten thousand noble-souled (mahātman) kṣatriyas, I must withdraw from battle—this is my daily vow. O best of Bharatas, I have indeed accomplished that which was promised.
