महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-131, verse-31

संतोषो वै श्रियं हन्ति तथानुक्रोश एव च ।
अनुत्थानभये चोभे निरीहो नाश्नुते महत् ॥३१॥
31. saṁtoṣo vai śriyaṁ hanti tathānukrośa eva ca ,
anutthānabhaye cobhe nirīho nāśnute mahat.

31. Contentment (santoṣa) certainly destroys prosperity, and compassion likewise does. Both inaction and fear prevent one who is without ambition (nirīha) from achieving greatness.
