महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-131, verse-23

न त्वेव जाल्मीं कापालीं वृत्तिमेषितुमर्हसि ।
नृशंस्यामयशस्यां च दुःखां कापुरुषोचिताम् ॥२३॥
23. na tveva jālmīṁ kāpālīṁ vṛttimeṣitumarhasi ,
nṛśaṁsyāmayaśasyāṁ ca duḥkhāṁ kāpuruṣocitām.
23. na tu eva jālmīm kāpālīm vṛttim eṣitum arhasi
nṛśaṃsyām ayaśasyām ca duḥkhām kāpuruṣocitām
23. tu eva na arhasi jālmīm kāpālīm nṛśaṃsyām
ayaśasyām ca duḥkhām kāpuruṣocitām vṛttim eṣitum
23. You certainly should not desire a wretched, vile, cruel, ignoble, and painful mode of life, which is fitting for a cowardly man.
