महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-8, verse-24

अथापरे सहस्राणि ये गताः शशबिन्दवः ।
इष्ट्वाश्वमेधैर्बहुभिर्महद्भिर्भूरिदक्षिणैः ॥२४॥
24. athāpare sahasrāṇi ye gatāḥ śaśabindavaḥ ,
iṣṭvāśvamedhairbahubhirmahadbhirbhūridakṣiṇaiḥ.
24. atha apare sahasrāṇi ye gatāḥ śaśabindavaḥ | iṣṭvā
aśvamedhaiḥ bahubhiḥ mahadbhiḥ bhūridakṣiṇaiḥ
24. atha apare sahasrāṇi śaśabindavaḥ ye bahubhiḥ
mahadbhiḥ bhūridakṣiṇaiḥ aśvamedhaiḥ iṣṭvā gatāḥ
24. Then, thousands of others, like Śaśabindu, attained [greatness] after performing many magnificent horse (Aśvamedha) Vedic rituals (yajña) that involved lavish donations.
