महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-17, chapter-3, verse-9

युधिष्ठिर उवाच ।
अनार्यमार्येण सहस्रनेत्र शक्यं कर्तुं दुष्करमेतदार्य ।
मा मे श्रिया संगमनं तयास्तु यस्याः कृते भक्तजनं त्यजेयम् ॥९॥
9. yudhiṣṭhira uvāca ,
anāryamāryeṇa sahasranetra; śakyaṁ kartuṁ duṣkarametadārya ,
mā me śriyā saṁgamanaṁ tayāstu; yasyāḥ kṛte bhaktajanaṁ tyajeyam.

sahasranetra śakyam kartum duṣkaram etat
ārya mā me śriyā saṅgamanam tayā

9. Yudhishthira said: "O thousand-eyed Indra, it is an ignoble act, though difficult, for a noble person to perform. May I not attain prosperity (śrī) through an act for the sake of which I would abandon a loyal companion."
