महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-150, verse-23

शल्मलिरुवाच ।
न मे वायुः सखा ब्रह्मन्न बन्धुर्न च मे सुहृत् ।
परमेष्ठी तथा नैव येन रक्षति मानिलः ॥२३॥

23. śalmaliruvāca ,
na me vāyuḥ sakhā brahmanna bandhurna ca me suhṛt ,
parameṣṭhī tathā naiva yena rakṣati mānilaḥ.

23. śalmalīḥ uvāca na me vāyuḥ sakhā brahman na bandhuḥ na ca
me suhṛt parameṣṭhī tathā na eva yena rakṣati mā anilaḥ

23. śalmalīḥ uvāca: brahman,
vāyuḥ me sakhā na,
bandhuḥ na ca me suhṛt na.
tathā eva parameṣṭhī na yena anilaḥ mā rakṣati.

23. Śalmalī said: 'O Brāhmaṇa, the wind is not my friend, nor my kinsman, nor my well-wisher. Likewise, it is not Parameṣṭhī through whom the wind protects me.'
