Indeed, when the ego-sense (ahaṅkāra) is expanded, the cycle of worldly existence (saṃsāra) is experienced. This experience does not occur when the ego-sense has become internally absorbed and completely dwindled, just as (perception does not occur) when the pupil of an eye is exhausted.
