वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-7, verse-33

विरथस्तु गदां गृह्य माली नक्तंचरोत्तमः ।
आपुप्लुवे गदापाणिर्गिर्यग्रादिव केषरी ॥३३॥
33. virathastu gadāṃ gṛhya mālī naktaṃcarottamaḥ ,
āpupluve gadāpāṇirgiryagrādiva keṣarī.

āpapluve gadā-pāṇiḥ giri-agrāt iva keśarī
33. The foremost of the night-wanderers (rākṣasas), Mālin, having dismounted from his chariot and grasping his mace, sprang forth, mace in hand, like a lion from a mountain peak.
