वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-17, verse-26

वयं वनचरा राम मृगा मूलफलाशनाः ।
एषा प्रकृतिरस्माकं पुरुषस्त्वं नरेश्वरः ॥२६॥
26. vayaṃ vanacarā rāma mṛgā mūlaphalāśanāḥ ,
eṣā prakṛtirasmākaṃ puruṣastvaṃ nareśvaraḥ.

26. O Rama, we are forest-dwellers, animals (mṛga), whose food is roots and fruits. This is our intrinsic nature (prakṛti), while you are a king, the lord of men (puruṣa).
