वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-17, verse-20

विषये वा पुरे वा ते यदा नापकरोम्यहम् ।
न च त्वां प्रतिजाने ऽहं कस्मात्त्वं हंस्यकिल्बिषम् ॥२०॥
20. viṣaye vā pure vā te yadā nāpakaromyaham ,
na ca tvāṃ pratijāne'haṃ kasmāttvaṃ haṃsyakilbiṣam.

tvāṃ pratijāne aham kasmāt tvaṃ haṃsi akilbiṣam
20. yadā aham te viṣaye vā pure vā na apakaromi ca na tvāṃ pratijāne,

20. When I do no harm to your territory or city, nor do I challenge you, why do you kill me, an innocent one?
