पक्षिण ऊचुः ।
रामः पार्थे परां प्रीतिं ज्ञात्वा कृष्णस्य लाङ्गली ।
चिन्तयामास बहुधा किं कृतं सुकृतं भवेत् ॥१॥

rāmaḥ pārthe parāṃ prītiṃ jñātvā kṛṣṇasya lāṅgalī .
cintayāmāsa bahudhā kiṃ kṛtaṃ sukṛtaṃ bhavet.

The birds said: Balarama, the plough-bearer, understanding Krishna's deep affection for Arjuna, pondered extensively, "What would be the most virtuous course of action?"
