मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-125, verse-12

आचार्याणां सकाशात्स प्राग्वेदाञ्जगृहे मुने ।
ततः शास्त्राण्यशेषाणि धनुर्वेदं ततः परम् ॥१२॥
12. ācāryāṇāṃ sakāśātsa prāgvedāñjagṛhe mune .
tataḥ śāstrāṇyaśeṣāṇi dhanurvedaṃ tataḥ param.
12. ācāryāṇām sakāśāt sa prāk vedān jagṛhe mune
tataḥ śāstrāṇi aśeṣāṇi dhanurvedam tataḥ param
12. O sage, first he learned the Vedas from his teachers. Subsequently, he mastered all the other treatises and, following that, the Dhanurveda (science of archery).
