मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
इत्याह बहुशः पित्रा यदाप्युक्त्वाऽप्यसौ मुने ।
तदा तस्य सुतं राज्ये मरुत्तमकरोन्नृपः ॥३१॥

31. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca .
ityāha bahuśaḥ pitrā yadāpyuktvā'pyasau mune .
tadā tasya sutaṃ rājye maruttamakaronnṛpaḥ.

mārkaṇḍeya uvāca iti āha bahuśaḥ pitrā yadā api uktvā api
asau mune tadā tasya sutam rājye maruttam akarot nṛpaḥ

Mārkaṇḍeya said: 'Thus, even after he (the son) had repeatedly spoken to his father, O sage (muni), King Marutta nevertheless appointed his son as ruler in the kingdom.'
