मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-12, verse-18

छिन्नानि तेषां शतशः खण्डान्यैक्यं व्रजन्ति च ।
एवं वर्षसहस्राणि छिद्यन्ते पापकर्मिणः ॥१८॥
18. chinnāni teṣāṃ śataśaḥ khaṇḍānyaikyaṃ vrajanti ca .
evaṃ varṣasahasrāṇi chidyante pāpakarmiṇaḥ.
18. chinnāni teṣām śataśaḥ khaṇḍāni aikyam vrajanti
ca evam varṣasahasrāṇi chidyante pāpakārmiṇaḥ
18. Their hundreds of severed pieces unite again. In the same way, those who commit evil deeds (pāpakarmins) are cut apart for thousands of years.
