मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-12, verse-17

यमानुगाङ्गुलिस्थेन आपादतलमस्तकम् ।
न चैषां जीवितभ्रंशो जायते द्विजसत्तम ॥१७॥

na caiṣāṃ jīvitabhraṃśo jāyate dvijasattama.

17. By the [cord] held in the finger of Yama's attendant, [they are cut] from the sole of the foot to the head. And yet, their loss of life (jīvitabhraṃśa) does not occur, O best among the twice-born (dvija).
