महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-8, verse-31

यथा स हृतदर्पश्च हृततेजाश्च पाण्डव ।
भविष्यति सुखं हन्तुं सत्यमेतद्ब्रवीमि ते ॥३१॥
31. yathā sa hṛtadarpaśca hṛtatejāśca pāṇḍava ,
bhaviṣyati sukhaṁ hantuṁ satyametadbravīmi te.
31. yathā sa hṛtadarpaḥ ca hṛtatejāḥ ca pāṇḍava
bhaviṣyati sukham hantum satyam etat bravīmi te
31. So that he (Karṇa), his pride (darpa) destroyed and his valor diminished, O Pāṇḍava, will become easy to kill. This truth I declare to you.
