महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-284, verse-31

वृणोमि कीर्तिं लोके हि जीवितेनापि भानुमन् ।
कीर्तिमानश्नुते स्वर्गं हीनकीर्तिस्तु नश्यति ॥३१॥

31. vṛṇomi kīrtiṁ loke hi jīvitenāpi bhānuman ,
kīrtimānaśnute svargaṁ hīnakīrtistu naśyati.

31. vṛṇomi kīrtim loke hi jīvitena api bhānuman |
kīrtimān aśnute svargam hīnakīrtiḥ tu naśyati

31. O resplendent one, I indeed choose fame in the world, even at the cost of my life. A person who possesses fame attains heaven, but one whose fame is lost (or who lacks fame) perishes.

31. אני בוחר בתהילה בעולם, הו בעל האור, גם במחיר חיי. מי שיש לו תהילה מגיע לשמיים, ומי שתהילתו אבדה, אובד.
